About My Clients
I work with Teens, Young Adults, & Adults; especially those who experienced trauma. In times of pain or fear, our brains do what they think they must to survive. Often, in my clients, this manifests as disordered eating, compulsive behaviors, anxiety, depression, codependency, self-harm, dissociation, etc. I also support folks navigating: faith transitions, ADHD, autism, & more!
My Background and Approach
As a human & therapist I believe therapy is a space for you to find yourself—to develop a tender love for your past, respect for your present, & hope for your future. I specialize in supporting individuals on their journey of Self-discovery, especially when Self has been buried under layers of protective responses that do not support long-term well-being. To find yourself, you will let go of beliefs/behaviors that inhibit your ability to thrive to make room for other coping skills that support a values-based life. You will learn how to be kind(er) to yourself, be curious rather than critical, & safely navigate fight/flight/freeze/fawn responses. I'm EMDR-trained, IFS-informed, a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, & hold certifications in trauma-sensitive care. In our work together, I will utilize an eclectic mix of: somatic healing, nonjudgmental communication, creative-expressive arts, & trauma-informed practices to support your needs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am committed to respecting your lived experiences & seeing you as a person first—not just a client, & most definitely not just a diagnosis!! I have great respect for client needs & strive to be an intersectional advocate for marginalized communities including LGBTQIA+, Neurodivergent, Disabled, BIPOC, & Fat folks. I am sex-positive & affirm the kink, sex worker, & ethical non-monogamy communities. I intentionally strive to learn from those in the marginalized communities I work with & believe in the importance of collective unlearning. I provide weight-neutral care rooted in body liberation advocacy. I believe that in order to provide weight-neutral care, we must be fat-positive and --without these, implicit weight stigma and anti-fat bias will perpetuate harm in the eating disorder field. In addition to my work as a therapist, I dedicate time to various fat liberation projects.
