About My Clients
My clients seek out therapy recognizing that they have endured unsafe, harmful, violating, and/or invalidating experiences and are unsure how to navigate their healing journey. I aim to provide LGBTQIA+ BIPoC folx culturally relevant and affirmative mental health services where we may explore how larger systems of oppression have contributed to their distress.
My Background and Approach
As we navigate your healing journey together you can expect that I will utilize a culturally sensitive and trauma-focused integrative approach, where we balance fostering insight into how your past influences your present distress and coping. I integrate the neuroscience of trauma to support your mental health and my interventions will be responsive to your individual presenting concerns and distress. I aim to empower you with knowledge, mindfulness-based coping skills, and resources to support you on your healing journey. I aim to co-create an affirming and empowering space for all parts of your intersectional identities, where you can explore your lived experience and values in order to strengthen your ability to cope with life’s challenges as your most authentic self. I actively work from a critical race and feminist lens, meaning I aim to identify and affirm how larger systems of oppression are contributing to your distress.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a first-generation Latina and I am deeply committed to providing accessible and affirming mental health services for LGBTQIA+ BIPoC folx. I believe my clients are experts in their own lives and I hope to honor their experience by walking alongside them as they navigate how larger systems of oppression have affected their lives and aim to co-create a safe enough and empowering space. I previously worked as a Resource Specialist Educator in South Los Angeles, where I taught neurodivergent students. As an educator, I believed in utilizing a trauma-focused approach to empower my students and I actively considered the intersectionality of their identity to utilize culturally relevant and accessible material. At The Trevor Project crisis line for LGBTQIA+ young people, I supervised folx providing crisis counseling. I supported folx to provide inclusive and affirming services where we support them to deescalate and obtain long-term mental health care.
