About My Clients
I enjoy working with young adults and adults on anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, family conflicts, life transitions, personal growth, communication, self-esteem, identity, loss. My ideal client would be someone who is actively engaged in their therapy, curious, thoughtful, willing to step a little outside their comfort zone, open to new perspectives, and willing to explore their history. My aim is to encourage you towards your fullest potential and most satisfying life.
My Background and Approach
I honor the courage it takes to reach out for support, whether you are new to therapy or not. No one person is exactly like another. My approach is integrative and based on each client’s unique needs. I draw upon my training in psychodynamic, modern psychoanalytic, and trauma-focused psychotherapy. If preferred, I can also work using solely EMDR therapy. My style is warm, collaborative, empathetic and interactive. I will listen carefully, but also ask questions and offer feedback when I feel it is appropriate.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As an Asian-American woman, I care very much about social justice and what it means to be different from the mainstream. In my work, this translates to creating an environment that promotes respect, nonjudgment and open-mindedness. One way I do this is by supporting alternative — but equally valid — viewpoints based on differences in values, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, ability, age, or any number of other factors. I am alert to and curious about how clients' differences have influenced their development and problems. My concern for social justice is why I am excited that teletherapy has made treatment accessible to more people. As a licensed clinical social worker, abiding by the profession's code of ethics around integrity, conduct, and competence is also very important to me.
