About My Clients
I work with individuals, couples, and families. I specialize in working with couples, trauma, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and working with those with interracial, intercultural, and interreligious backgrounds. I have worked with couples around grief, betrayals, intimacy, and communication. I look at culture and other relevant contexts to help understand where your experiences may be coming from. My Background and Approach
I have worked with clients who have experienced a variety of different clinical issues and worked in many different treatment capacities (therapist, supervisor, faculty). I have also worked in IOP as well as treatment centers, and those who have been mandated for treatment. I like to understand where you, as my client, are coming from; to me, I feel like you are making the best decision you can with your current coping skills, which make sense to you. I also try to explore your sense of self and how that carries through your previous and current relationships. While I may be guiding your through your therapeutic process, you are still in the driver's seat.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I see my job as helping you understand, communicate, and bridge gaps of difference with insight and perspective. I see my job as highlighting what opportunities, options, and/or possibilities you can choose from to make changes in your life. I really pay attention to the process of communication between all people in the room, while exploring previous history as an influence. I also try to provide solutions, while looking at the way my clients think.
