About My Clients
Our world is changing in so many ways and sometimes it feels impossible to keep up. My clients are deep thinkers who also feel very deeply. Are you afraid of the uncertainty? Not sure what is coming next? Need to talk about how you are feeling because anxiety keeps you up at night? Do you fee like your mind is racing and its hard to calm down? I teach coping exercises to help reduce anxious symptoms in exchange for peace, contentment and more quality relationships.
My Background and Approach
The interventions that I will provide are tools that I have spent over 20 years perfecting over the span of my career. I am a Solution-Focused Brief Therapist, trained by some of the top experts in the field. For the past 15 years I have taught in higher education, supporting graduate clinicians entering the field as practitioners. You will have access to my knowledge, skill and expertise learning ways to cope and reflect on life's biggest challenges. We will work together collaboratively to find solutions that feel right for you. My true passion is helping others identify their preferred stories whether it is working through relationships...or simply trying to find their voice during a difficult season in life. My expertise is helping to restore relationships: parent and child, conflictual couples, pre-marital counseling, and individuals seeking solutions to live their best life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone should be treated with respect and dignity. I also believe that every situation can change and each person has strengths to grow and evolve. For me, culturally sensitive therapy is essential in my practice. Culturally sensitive therapy is an approach to psychotherapy that acknowledges and respects the cultural backgrounds, experiences, and values of individuals involved in the therapeutic process. It involves understanding clients' unique cultural context and integrating this understanding into therapy to create a more effective and respectful treatment plan. This approach demands therapists be aware of their own cultural biases and assumptions, while also being knowledgeable about the cultures of the clients they serve. By fostering an inclusive environment that validates and incorporates cultural diversity, culturally sensitive therapy enhances trust and communication, making it more relevant and impactful for clients from diverse backgrounds.
