About My Clients

I support individual adults who have been struggling with their day-to-day functioning, are having a hard time with family and/or relationships, are lacking sense of direction, or just "going through it." We often normalize these struggles as just being "life" and tend to ride it out until things get really bad. Whether you're here because you're ready for change, growth, and understanding, or maybe just want to give this therapy thing a try, I am here to help with your process.

My Background and Approach

The foundation of my work is culturally relevant, socially conscious, and trauma-informed, and will be exploring your family dynamics and history in order to help get a bigger picture and understanding of your current struggles and inner dialogue. I take an integrative approach that may include parts work, attachment theory, and some somatic work, but the basis of the work we will do will be through the narrative lens, which relies on a strong therapeutic relationship to collaboratively explore and process your story and unravel those difficult emotions that you might be working so hard to stash away. You will gain new insight and perspective about your story, and be better able to acknowledge the hurt and pain without the overwhelm that might have previously kept you stuck.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My life experiences play a significant role in the values and beliefs I bring to the table in treatment. As a Mexican American man who grew up in the hood and sought out higher education, I endured systemic racism at a very early age, in addition to financial struggles, broken family dynamics, and discrimination in the professional setting later in life. Doing my own intergenerational work and gaining insight into how my family history has impacted various aspects of my life (i.e.: being a father, husband, friend, etc.), drives me to do the same type of work to help others. I want to help you gain new perspective and understanding that can help increase your overall sense of connectedness to your true self, and establish a sense of confidence in situations in a way that doesn't feel so overwhelming as before.
