About My Clients
Sometimes you feel like you are barely hanging on, just going through the motions of living. You want to enjoy life, but you just don't know how to get there. You are afraid you will never be happy. You may hide it well from the outside world, but you feel so alone. You often feel like you just aren't good enough. You wish you felt more motivated and engaged. I can help you change your life for the better! My clients tell me that I am easy to talk to and help them to feel comfortable.
My Background and Approach
I'll help you develop the tools you need to feel more in control and satisfied with your life. You'll learn techniques to monitor your internal self-talk, to set appropriate boundaries, and to relate more effectively with others. My approach to therapy is eclectic, utilizing what will work for a particular individual in a particular situation., Throughout my career of more than thirty-five years, I have learned that there is no "one size fits all" in good therapy! I do, however, tend to be active in my sessions...a true partner to my clients, most often utilizing a cognitive approach. I will help you to lift your depression and anxiety and to feel more satisfied with your life. As a a DOT approved SAP (Substance Abuse Professional), I am also equipped to assist you if you have fallen into the trap of self-medicating with drugs or alcohol.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that it is never too late to change and grow. As a seasoned clinician, I have seen hopelessness and helplessness get turned around on a regular basis. I truly derive great pleasure in observing these daily "miracles" in my clients. I am an inclusive and non-judgmental therapist, working with people of all races, religions and sexual orientations.
