About My Clients
The role you play in others’ lives has kept you safe for a long time. You are intuitive. You’re independent. People know they can trust you to show up and handle things. They see you come into the room and they exhale in relief. You're the fixer. But something in you worries that if you let yourself relax, you’d find that you hate being seen this way. Emotions feel like an inconvenience, and you don't want to fall apart. You know something has to change.
How I Can Help You
My approach as a therapist is collaborative. It integrates relational and attachment-based foundations. I utilize the present and implement gentle challenging & parts work, creative exploration, open and honest dialogue, inner and outer narrative of worldview, systemic & cultural influence, and great respect for the body/mind connection. I believe strongly in your agency and autonomy as a human, and I stand by the principle that you are the expert in your own experiences. My approach is depth oriented, trauma-centered, identity affirming, and intersectional. I will challenge you, but I will not push you. My therapeutic style is warm, inquisitive, responsive, strategic, direct, realistic, will challenge you, curious, nonjudgemental. I use humor, pattern recognition, and creativity. I’m usually in comfortable clothes and am a beverage goblin.
My Values as a Therapist
This practice is a values-based practice. I operate through the lens that you are the expert in your own experiences. This means that when you tell me something, I am going to believe it. I operate through the lens of Liberation Psychology which means I believe that until we are all free, no one is. Therapy is political. This practice implements and work with culturally responsive, anti-oppressive frameworks. I also recognize the inherent carceral nature of health worker systems and am always implementing strong criticism to the field I am a part of. I do not take for granted that this work cannot happen without your trust in me, and for that I am honored.
