I work with adults navigating life transitions or considering meaningful change, as well as those experiencing depression, anxiety, and challenges with mood and emotional regulation. I support individuals impacted by trauma in making sense of their experiences. My approach is collaborative and client-centered, focused on reducing symptoms and improving overall quality of life.
My Background and Approach
I have worked on a Comprehensive DBT Team; facilitated groups and individual sessions with adults struggling with emotion regulation, tolerating distress, communicating needs appropriately, and setting limits. As a private practice therapist, I focus on validating my clients feelings/experiences, supporting them with acceptance of/for what is not within their control, and making small, manageable changes that are aligned with their self-identified therapy goals.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I have struggled in my own life and have benefited greatly from the support offered by the therapists I've worked with over the years. I believe my personal challenges have resulted in a relatability that is felt by my clients as being genuine and down to earth. I work hard to create an atmosphere of non-judgement and acceptance for all. As a bi-racial woman I understand the unique challenges faced by those who don't 'fit' into the categories created by our society. We are living in a world that is heavily focused on labels. Choosing to resist labels can result in a unique sense of being ostracized and isolated despite being constantly 'connected'.
