About My Clients
If you're struggling with Trauma, General Anxiety, Social Anxiety, or Panic Attacks... you've found the right place! Those nagging feelings of anxiety can eat up your joy, prevent you from engaging fully in life, or just make life feel... stressful. It doesn't have to stay that way, there are effective strategies that will help! I also specialize in Couples therapy. Want to revitalize your relationships? Reconnect, communicate more effectively, and strengthen your understanding of one another.
My Background and Approach
I have 15+ years experience providing therapy for Adults and Couples. I earned my PhD in 2012 from NIU, with an Anxiety & PTSD focus. I lived in Virginia for a few years (where I fell in love with mountains and hiking, and our 2 sweet pups), and then moved back to Illinois to be closer to family for our kids (missing those mountains, though!). I use proven EBP therapy approaches, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). I tailor those therapies for each client that I see, and I bring my supportive and lighthearted sides into the therapy room. I don't shy away from difficult topics, but I will also laugh with you when humor arises! I love seeing how therapy can open up a person's life to be more joyous and fulfilling. My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I try to live my values. I am an active volunteer in local mental health, social justice, and environmental efforts. I'm interested in genuine connections, compassion, and understanding. In my practice, my values mean that I come into sessions focused on having genuine, deep conversations. I bring humor and passion to our work together. I'd like to focus on what you want, and how we can work together to move your life towards YOUR values. I believe in respecting where each person is at, in this moment, while recognizing there may also be parts of life that you want to change. We're all human!
