About My Clients
My areas of focus include: narcissistic abuse recovery, healing from trauma, identity, body image, intergenerational trauma, managing anxiety & stress, personal growth & life transitions, family estrangements, and working with individuals and couples on relationship and intimacy work--including high-conflict divorce and separation, co-parenting, blended families, and stepfamilies. I work with children 10 & up, teens, adults of all ages, and couples.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California and Idaho. I earned my M.A. in clinical psychology with an MFT emphasis at Pepperdine University. In addition to my MFT and clinical experience, I have specialized training in EMDR, ACT, and Gottman Couples Therapy. I also have extensive experience with teens through teaching, raising my own, and working as a school-based counselor, and I enjoy working with children 10 and up. I find ACT particularly useful in addressing anxious and depressive symptoms and to build coping skills for whatever life throws at us. My background includes work as an educator, entrepreneurship, running an entertainment agency, and serving as a Humanist Chaplain. I also draw from my experience as a Latina woman, and operate through an all-inclusive lens, utilizing evidenced-based practices from a Humanistic, feminist, anti-racist, person-centered, strength-based, LGBTQIA+ affirmative and trauma-informed perspective.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
In my spare time, I volunteer as a reading tutor for young people with Reading Partners of LA, serve on the board of my local school district's PTA addressing DEI issues, and work as a pro bono therapist for Immigrants Rising. I am passionate about doing my part to strive toward a safer, more equitable, and healing community.
