We provide support for those struggling with body image and with food. Whether you experience urges to restrict calories, use over-exercising or other strategies to over-compensate for calories eaten, or struggle with feelings of guilt and shame around loss of control eating, at Bricolage, we believe a healthy relationship with your body and with food is possible for everyone. As a (HAES) aligned practice, we understand that scale numbers are not inherently reflective of a person's health.

PMADS stands for "perinatal mood and anxiety disorders." It's a real thing. It occurs in 1/7 birthing persons and 1/10 partners. Whatever part of your journey delivers you difficulty (birth trauma, difficulty connecting, sleep deprivation or general malaise and fear), we can explore the events you've experienced and how they affect your past, your present and your future. From there, we can practice using skills to help you work toward your inherent desires to bond with your baby.

Sometimes, you are living your life, and something unexpected grabs a hold of you and buckles you into a roller coaster you didn't sign up for. Or it may seem like one roller coaster after another and you can't get off the ride. Ideally, we like to feel pretty well prepared for the unexpected, but our thoughts and feelings can be too much to manage. And our worst fears tell us the catastrophes we imagine are guaranteed to occur. We work together to quiet these fears so you can thrive again.

I have unpleasant emotion states, but I am not my feelings. I am not my thoughts. I am a bystander observing them come and go, non-judgmentally. Think, "I'll probably always have some kind of unpleasant thoughts and feelings, but I can outlast them. It's part of the human condition."

Chicken Little (R) thought the sky was falling. He could have looked around for evidence, asked for advice, or gathered his own data points. But instead, he spread the word around town, which caused unpleasant consequences for all involved. Instead, we can learn to challenge our thoughts before they affect our sense of safety. Think, "I'm not going to believe everything I think."

Sometimes we experience our feelings as overwhelming and extremely intense; if we fear we cannot wait out these emotion states, we will do anything to decrease the intensity of our emotions. But when we learn that our emotions come and go, we trust in the longer term. We are the sky and our emotions are the weather. The weather might get nasty, but it's never bigger than the sky. Think, "If I just wait until the intensity of these emotions weakens, I'll feel better."
