Worry and stress can be too much for us to deal with at varying times of our life. Sometimes this is due to an experience that has made us feel alone and anxious. For children this can look like anger, distraction, or fear of doing things. For adults anxiety can sometimes be debilitating, and cause us to feel worried, alone and have panic attacks. This might feel like chest pressure, headaches, the inability to concentrate. I try my best to work with anxiety by creating a space that feels safe
ADHD in Children and adults can look and feel different at times. For children, ADHD can make it difficult to concentrate, make friends and cope with stress. As a clinician I try my best to work with the patient as well as a caregiver to provide coping tools. Structure, routine and patience can greatly assist with improving concentration and learning to skill build around daily tasks. For adults who cope with ADHD can cause stress with relationships, and sometimes impact work.
Being a young person can be confusing, challenging and downright difficult. Families and caregivers are often going through so much. This can include work stress, sibling stress, or school challenges. Parents don’t always know how to talk with children and youth about what is bothering them. It can feel confusing for parents and caregivers when children reject your intention to make a connection or just talk. Sometimes there are deeper issues that might need an objective, perspective.
