Simply being a woman can be stressful! Add in trauma with its intrusive thoughts, and emotions or anxiety or depression with its worry thoughts and regrets. Maybe you just had a baby and you should be happy but your not or it was scary and you can't stop thinking about it. No-one gets you and the mommy guilt is agony. It feels like your spinning out of control, it's too much. I don't want you to suffer anymore. Therapy can help! I am hear to support you and teach how take your life back!!
My Background and Approach
I specialize in women's mental health and wellness. My team and I at Lotus Blossom Psychotherapy specialty in women's mental health has allowed us to submerge ourselves in the best treatment options and challenges that are specific to women. For myself, I am a licensed clinical social worker and that means that I take a holistic an eclectic approach to therapy. Teaching you coping mechanisms through Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to help you to regulate your emotions, survive crisis, live in the moment and be interpersonally effective. With my clients who have suffered from a traumatic life event I am trained in EMDR which helps to alleviate the reactivity so that the event no longer interferes with your present life. For the mamas who are struggling, I am certified in perinatal mental health and therefore I have a greater understanding of the very special needs that mother's have both pre-pregnancy all the way through the post partum period and beyond.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Why treat only those who identify as female? I have lived through my own challenges as a woman from trauma to post partum depression and anxiety and I know how alone I felt. I don't want any other woman to feel the disempowerment and pain that I felt. I stand for racial and gender causes and I am always striving to grow. So I finetuned my practice to meet the needs of women. More recently expanded that practice by adding other therapist and wellness providers. I sit on the board of Post Partum Support International - NJ Chapter. In addition, I am the head of the education and training committee looking to educate other providers of the special needs of maternal mental health. I also work with a women's empowerment and charitable organization called ETT Women. I supervise other therapists who share my vision and values.
