About My Clients
My ideal clients are male-identified adults who are highly motivated to improve their relationships with others and with themselves. They are searching for better connections with those around them, and desire to step into living a whole, healthy life, and live in vital relationship with their significant others, family, and the world. They want to live a life of purpose, but may not yet know how to find it.
My Background and Approach
We humans are relational beings, and through our work together, I help you look at your relationship patterns, past and present, so you can make the changes you want to make in your life, in order to heal, connect more deeply with those around you, and live with more purpose. I have had over 20 years of varied experience in the mental health field, in both Oregon and California. I’ve worked in a variety of settings with individuals, groups, couples, teenagers, and families, and have supervised other clinicians in crisis line work. I've worked in multiple different environments including private practice, group practice, nonprofit counseling centers, behavioral health insurance, telephone crisis intervention, youth day treatment, and foster care programs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that connection with others, and connection within ourselves, brings healing. For all of us--and especially for those male-identified--isolation and disconnection is horrible for our health, and is even a predictor of early death. I believe that we are meant to live in community, in connection, and this has become increasingly difficult in today's society. Even within ourselves, we often split off or hide parts of ourselves that we don't like. We may not like our fear, our anger, our sadness and even our desire. Bringing these parts of us out of the shadow is key to healing ourselves. When we heal ourselves, we then bring positive change to our relationships, and become a part of making the world a better place. Simple, right? Well, it does take time and energy, but healing is possible.
