These hormones turn our experience of the painful emotional event into strong memories. These memories are strong to ensure we do not forget such an episode and promote our survival. However in our modern world, threats to our physical safety are rare, but threats to our emotional safety are everywhere.

Psychodynamic theory is actually a collection of psychological theories which emphasize the importance of drives and other forces in human functioning, especially unconscious drives. The approach holds that childhood experience is the basis for adult personality and relationships. Establishing connections between the past & present leads to language and perspective leaving us with a better understanding of what we must be feeling in order to make us act like that.

The focus of this type of family therapy is tp help people heal therapeutically with active support from their families.
