About My Clients
I have experience working with a large variety of individuals, including adults, children, and families, and I specialize in working with those experiencing anxiety, depression, addiction, emotion regulation issues, and trauma. I have a special passion for suicide prevention, empowering those who have experienced trauma, and creating a safe and nonjudgmental space for clients to grow and feel heard.
My Background and Approach
I hold both Bachelor's and Master's Degrees of Social Work from Auburn University, with a focus on mental health. Because I have worked with a large variety of individuals, I have the ability to adapt how I work with people based on what their needs are. Some clients come to therapy with a list of things they would like to discuss, and others don't know what to expect from therapy at all. I operate from a place of genuineness and lack of judgment, and I believe that entering the therapy process is brave in itself. At the core of my therapeutic practice is Person-Centered Therapy, which is about the therapist's need to be authentic, show empathy, and have unconditional positive regard. I believe that providing the space of therapy is so healing in itself. I do draw upon other modalities of treatment-- my favorites of which are Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
