About My Clients
My therapeutic passions include: working with fellow members of the queer community, people in alternative relationship styles and structures (poly/CNM/BDSM/kink), and those touched by addiction. I am equally driven to educate, supervise, and provide case consultations to other clinicians hoping to learn more about systemic and relational approaches to working with sexually diverse clients.
My Background and Approach
I am a relational therapist at my core, so whether you are an individual or a family/partnership seeking therapy, we will take a relational approach. Looking at family dynamics and relational patterns over time will be a significant part of what we do. From that, we explore what was learned to determine what still serves you and unlearn what limits you. Taking a relational approach to your therapy goals has the potential to provide you with an abundance of helpful insight and understanding that becomes the foundation of this next chapter in your beautiful life. We are in this together, and getting to know you and supporting you in better knowing yourself/selves is my mission.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a queer therapist who lives and loves alternatively myself. As a post-modern systems thinker, I am constantly thinking about social constructivism and how we as humans exist in a context we co-create. The rules and roles of our society, or as I call them "the should's", impose norms that don't reflect most of our authentic wants and needs. Many of us carry deep shame & attachment injury simply for existing in a world not built with us in mind. These notions frame much of how I conceptualize everything. I take a non-pathologizing approach to therapy that leaves plenty of space for the innate capacity humans have to grow and change. I consider intergenerational trauma, family rules and roles, and relational learning over time in conceptualizing every "problem" and "solution". Clients can anticipate a spiritually-informed, person-centered, & an always expansive approach.
