About My Clients
Relationships can be some of the most meaningful parts of our lives, but also some of the most difficult. You may be dealing with conflict, family expectations, grief or a major change in your life. Maybe setting a boundary feels impossible, communication keeps breaking down or you’re noticing the same pattern in different relationships. We’ll look at what is happening and what you want to do differently. If you’d like to work with me, you can book a first session through my website.
My Background and Approach
My style is warm, grounded and honest. I want you to feel heard, but I’ll also gently challenge you when I notice something that may be getting in the way. We’ll look at the thoughts, emotions and relationship patterns that shape the choices you make, then work on changes you can use outside of therapy. I draw from Emotionally Focused Therapy, CBT, Narrative Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy. Depending on what brings you in, we may work on communicating more openly, setting stronger boundaries or understanding why certain situations bring up such a strong reaction. When I work with couples and families, I pay attention to the patterns between people rather than treating one person as the problem. I’ll adapt our sessions to what you need that day while keeping sight of the reasons you came to therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe lasting change begins with becoming more aware of the patterns shaping your thoughts, emotions, relationships and decisions. That can involve looking honestly at things you’ve learned to do automatically, including habits that once helped you but may no longer be working. I’m a first-generation college professional, career changer, stepparent and caregiver and I have personal experience with grief and loss. These parts of my own life have shaped how I understand family roles, responsibility and the fact that relationships are rarely simple. I bring that perspective into therapy while staying curious about what your experiences mean to you.
