I have extensive experience working with both youth and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. I have enjoyed working with this population professionally, both during my counseling career and prior to. I have worked in group homes, as a caregiver and case manager, in homeless shelters, and in a clinical community mental health setting with individuals in this population.
I have extensive experience both personally and professionally with the LGBTQIA+ community. I have experience assisting clients process issues including sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, coming out, transgender concerns, gender dysphoria, family dynamics, and oppressive trauma.
I utilize Internal Family Systems (IFS) as a primary lens when working with clients. This is a non-pathologizing and holistic approach to counseling which I find useful for those interested in personal growth and understanding their patterns and behaviors. IFS is a non-traditional approach that assists clients in deepening their relationship with themselves. I have had and continue to receive specialized training and supervision in utilizing IFS with clients who have experienced trauma.
I have both professional and personal experience working with those struggling with the symptoms of ADHD. I work with clients on four pillars of ADHD management (movement, medication, systems, and connection). I assist clients in exploring these areas to maximize potential for success, while also addressing oppressive systemic factors and emotional factors such as shame, guilt, and grief, that often accompany this diagnosis.
