About My Clients
I work with individual adults 18 and over, anywhere in New York State, by video. Many of my clients are in pregnancy or early parenthood — a season described everywhere as a happy one, which leaves little room to say you're frightened, flattened, or grieving a version of your life that isn't coming back. Postpartum depression and anxiety are common and treatable, and so are the things without a tidy name. I also see working adults facing anxiety, depression, life transitions, and self-worth.
My Background and Approach
For the past decade I've worked as a community social worker and mental health practitioner — with young people in schools, adults in community mental health clinics, and youth mandated to services in juvenile justice settings. I hold a Master of Social Work from New York University and a BA in Psychology from St. Edward's University, and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York (NPI 1457870180). What I carried out of all that work is that people mostly already hold their own answers, and that therapy is the work of uncovering them together rather than being handed them. I'll name the thought patterns and underlying beliefs I notice, and we build the treatment plan, including how long and how often we meet. Sessions are 45–50 minutes, online, and I suggest weekly for 8–12 weeks before we reassess together. We can schedule call so you can decide whether I'm the right fit — no commitment either way.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I identify as a neurodivergent parent, a Latina, and a first-generation college student, and I'm committed to naming structural bias in all its forms — because it shapes my clients' lived experience and my own. You will not have to explain or defend that context to me before we can get to work. Much of my career has been spent in systems that decide things about people rather than with them: schools, clinics, juvenile justice. That's a large part of why this practice doesn't bill insurance. I'm opposed to entering a diagnosis on someone's permanent medical record after one 30-minute conversation in order to satisfy a claim, and to an insurer holding the right to review your records or to ration how often we're allowed to meet. No claim means no diagnosis recorded to justify one. If you want a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement I'll gladly provide it; that stays your deliberate decision.
