My Background and Approach
I'm a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist — one of the few LCAS-credentialed therapists in the Lake Norman area. That dual credential matters when substance use and mental health are showing up together, which they often do. My approach is direct. I work below the level of insight — because most people who come in already understand their patterns. Understanding and shifting are different operations. I draw from EFT, IFS, psychodynamic, and somatic work depending on what's actually happening in the room. Private pay only. Small caseload on purpose. In-person in Cornelius, NC. Telehealth statewide.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I think therapy works when something gets genuinely destabilized — not in a way that feels unsafe, but in a way that actually moves something. Insight alone rarely does it. Most people I work with are already self-aware. The gap isn't understanding. It's that the nervous system hasn't gotten the memo yet. I keep a small caseload because I've thought carefully about the kind of work I want to do. This is the answer I keep coming back to.
