About My Clients
My clients are adults from all cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds. They seek my services for a wide range of reasons, including; anxiety, depression, LGBTQ+ care, obsessive compulsive disorder, difficulty finding meaning, trauma, attention deficit disorder, autism spectrum disorder, social justice and intersectional issues, and body and self-image. My clients thrive most when their experiences are valued and listened to empathically.
My Background and Approach
I use person-centered techniques to create a warm and nonjudgmental environment for you to comfortably share your experiences. By creating a strong and healthy therapeutic relationship, therapy can be a space for you to explore and work towards mental wellness. We will work together to identify and resolve behaviors, feelings, and thoughts that may need healing and/or support. I use a variety of other therapeutic modalities other than person-centered to aid your journey, including cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, mindfulness, narrative therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, somatic exercises and feminist theories. The goal for therapy is for us to create or learn healthy coping strategies for you to use when you need them!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Many of the practices I recommend to my clients I often use myself in my personal life. Somatic exercises, mindfulness, and leaning on my trusted chosen family are just a few of the mechanisms I use that are vital to my own healing. I see my own counselor whom I work with to make sure I am in the right mindset to take care of others and myself. When I am not seeing clients, I am often out in my communities volunteering (Black and LGBTQ+), making art, listening to music, dancing, or advocating for the rights of other oppressed people.
