About My Clients
I was trained in the treatment of traumatic stress. I truly enjoy watching people develop and practice resilience. Further, being able to support individuals of diverse backgrounds, identities, orientations is important to me, as I believe each person being free to be themselves leads to a vibrant, healthy community.
My Background and Approach
My theoretical orientation is an integration of Cognitive-Behavioral, Interpersonal Processing, and Multicultural perspectives. Having been trained in evidence-based practice, I believe that it is essential to stay updated on research and to continually expand my toolbox in order to tailor the best combination of tools for each client. A large part of what I enjoy in my work is collaborating with clients to discover various aspects of the self within the greater familial and cultural context they are embedded in, while identifying and creating opportunities for growth and resilience.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in affirming each individual in who they are. I love helping my clients discover, question, explore aspects of the self they may have been afraid or unsure of exploring on their own. When we reflect the uniqueness of each person to them in therapy, I have seen how people start to build esteem and efficacy in themselves, which is foundational for a healthy sense of self and ability to practice resilience even amidst hardship and suffering. I am also the mental health advocate for the Asia-Pacific American Students’ Association at the University of Arizona, and am proud to represent the Asian-American population in our profession and in advocating for breaking cycles of intergenerational trauma and stereotypes in our population.
