About My Clients

I work best with adults, parents, and couples who want to better understand themselves and the patterns shaping their relationships. I especially enjoy working with relationship and family conflict, parenting, burnout, anxiety, life transitions, infertility and postpartum experiences, and intergenerational trauma. My clients are often curious about what shaped them and ready to explore what they want to do differently.

My Background and Approach

I hold an M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy with a concentration in Trauma Studies. Before becoming a therapist, I spent more than a decade working with Asian and Pacific Islander survivors of domestic and family violence, later moving into violence prevention and parenting education. I bring a psychodynamic, attachment-based, and Emotionally Focused Therapy-informed approach to working with adults, parents, and couples. I help clients look beneath conflict and behavior to understand the emotions, needs, relationships, and experiences shaping their reactions. Together, we explore where patterns come from, which ones no longer serve you, and what you want to do differently, so you have more choice in how you respond, communicate, and relate to the people who matter to you.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My path to becoming a therapist grew out of years working in violence prevention, parenting education, and advocacy. My work and training with the late children’s advocate and parent educator Ruth Beaglehole deeply shaped how I think about relationships. Her philosophy of nonviolent parenting—and the shift from “power over” to “power with” continues to influence my values and my work as a therapist. I believe many of the patterns we struggle with have roots in what we learned about love, conflict, power, and belonging. Moving forward with intention often means looking back with curiosity and compassion at the experiences and wounds we carry. I do this work to support people who want to break from patterns that no longer serve them, understand what shaped them, and decide what they want to carry forward, so they can relate to others and move through life more fully on their own terms.
