About My Clients

Taking that first step to get help can be intimidating, but you are not alone and I will be here to support you in navigating these concerns. We will work on how to set boundaries, processing past trauma, cultivate a mindfulness practice, utilize effective communication skills, and be confident in your authentic self.
My Background and Approach
My name is Erin McKinney and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker as well as a Registered Play Therapist. I attained my Master’s degree in Social Work from Florida Atlantic University. I have worked in different treatment settings from community based care with children to outpatient substance abuse with adults. I currently work with adolescents, children and adults. My speciality is providing support to parents in navigating the different developmental stages of their children. Parenting is not one size fits all; you might be a single parent, an alienated parent, a parent questioning divorce, or a parent in a supportive marriage, but struggling with behavioral issues. I believe in the importance of exploring our own childhood and life experiences which can be impacting our relationships. I draw from different evidenced-based interventions such as EMDR, Play Therapy, CBT, and mindfulness practices.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that every human deserves the right to feel heard and cared about. I know that each decision made in our lives hinders on experiences and beliefs. I know that there are many different ways to live this life and that there is no right or wrong way. I enjoy connecting people with the healing properties of yoga and volunteering at my local animal shelter.
