About My Clients
Many of my clients are teachers, musicians, artists, creatives, and working professionals who feel like they're holding it together on the outside, but are internally struggling with stress and anxiety. I work with adults who are seeking a therapist with warmth, clarity, and practical tools as they move toward feeling like their true self again.
My Background and Approach
I'm a licensed therapist, songwriter, and former middle school teacher. I studied human development and neuroscience at UCSD before earning a masters in Counseling Psychology. I try to be collaborative, supportive, and organic. I use a trauma-informed mindfulness-based approach (weaving together components of CBT, DBT, ACT, psychodynamic, somatic awareness, and parts-work), to help you understand what's happening and build skills that work in real life. We will work together and focus on helping you feel more grounded, confident, and aligned with what matters most to you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that most people contain an innate wisdom, and that the "symptoms" that are often pathologized are actually communicating important information. I believe in helping people access cultural and traditional beliefs that will help in their healing/integration journey. I believe that dancing, singing, breaking bread with friends and safe people, and being out in nature are essential complementary practices to traditional talk therapy if someone wants to deepen their growth and learning. I believe in using art, music, and poetry to learn more about emotions. I welcome and integrate sacred practices of the people I work with including astrology, tarot, wicca, paganism, etc.
