About My Clients
As a culturally-sensitive and supportive LGBTQIA+ counselor, I strive to create an inclusive, safe and welcoming environment for all people and their presenting concerns. I have an emphasis in trauma, crisis, grief and loss. I approach counseling through a trauma-informed lens and view grief and loss as normal, unique experiences many of us go through in various forms. I work with individuals navigating life transitions, identity development, spiritual exploration, anxiety, depression and more.
My Background and Approach
Existence is complex. There are many beautiful and difficult pieces that can make up a meaningful life, and the gray, undefined areas offer opportunities for deeper self-understanding. I approach counseling from a person-centered perspective, emphasizing a collaborative therapeutic relationship grounded in empathy, rapport, and self-compassion. I integrate an existential lens, focusing on meaning-making, mindfulness, and the courage to be authentic. Change, growth and transition are individual and unique to each person. My Personal Beliefs and Interests
For every lovely and beautiful experience life has to offer, there is grief, tragedy and difficulty we cannot control. Pain is inevitable yet we have the gift to practice how we relate and respond to it. Through my training and personal life experience, I have come to believe there are no right answers, only who we choose to authentically be in a world where we have limited control. In my own life, self-compassion and mindfulness practices have been an enormous catalyst for change and growth towards the woman I am working to become. Outside of the counseling room I enjoy spending my time reading, cooking, being with my dog outdoors and eating good food with loved ones.
