Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania
I worked in the North Carolina prison system and had the opportunity to establish and facilitate art therapy programs for groups and individuals in male, female, and juveniles facilities. I ran years of groups for folks returning to the community from prison. I have also worked to support families with loved ones who are incarcerated.
In my role as a family based mental health professional as well as my experience working in a pediatric inpatient unit of a hospital, I have supported families experiencing major life changes from death and birth to homelessness or seeking new employment. I have worked with parents going through divorces and second marriages. Whatever stage of change you are in, growing pains abound and we will explore and ease those pains together so that you can access the profound growth inherent to change.
This is my current passion and it has been an absolute joy to connect with parents to be, pregnant folks, and those adjusting to life with a new baby. Opening one's heart up for such deep love carves out space for equal amounts of fear and pain. Whatever you are experiencing, you are not alone.
I am a trained art therapist and adapted my in person practice to the world of teletherapy. We can resource your inherent creativity through any medium that suits you. Using art materials to express yourself adds both a layer of comfort and depth to therapy. You do not have to be an artist to participate in art therapy. You just have to be human ;)
I am a trained art therapist and adapted my in person practice to the world of teletherapy. We can resource your inherent creativity through any medium that suits you. Using art materials to express yourself adds both a layer of comfort and depth to therapy. Art materials are concrete. Life struggles are not. Pain feels hopeless and endless at times. Art making can empower is active. You do not have to be an artist to participate in art therapy. You just have to be human ;)
I engaged in my own talk therapy for years and years and after a certain point, I felt talked out. I had intellectualized and focused on the facts until I felt I needed more. If you want to talk, I got you. If you are interested in adding in some other layers to therapy, I work to integrate the mind, body and soul into our work and your healing.
We all experience trauma. It is universal in a way and yet trauma rewires us to feel utterly alone and broken, at times even dirty and without worth. I have been there and worked extensively with clients who have been there. I can offer concrete tools and a safe space to process and understand the unique impact trauma has on you.
