About My Clients
Change can be scary and most people do not like dealing with the fear of the unknown, let alone situations that can create further uncertainty. When someone is diagnosed with a chronic condition like Parkinson's Disease, there are many different emotions that come up for both the individual and their loved ones. I work collaboratively with my clients and their families to find practical ways to better manage their condition, create a new normal, and live their best lives beyond a diagnosis.
My Background and Approach
When meeting with my clients, I focus on where their story begins to gain a better understanding of who they are, where they came from, and what they hope to achieve. Using a strengths-based perspective, I empower each individual that I work with to utilize the resources, talents, knowledge, and innate inner abilities that they already possess in order to help them get to the place where they ultimately would like to be. My goal is to equip you with the coping mechanisms, education, and resources that are needed to take control over the things that you can in order to improve your overall symptoms. For the past 8 years, I have had the privilege of working alongside some of the top neurologists in our country and I understand the importance of collaborative multi-disciplinary care. It takes a team to overcome the obstacles that come along with a progressive disease, but I will work with you and the other members of your care team to turn the "impossible" to "I'm possible."
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
A goal is a dream with a deadline. While everyone's timelines look very different, I believe that goals can be achieved through a more task-oriented approach. Thus, what works for you, may not work for someone else so we will work together to come up with a treatment plan that works best for you. If you are seeking a therapist that actively listens, wants to see you achieve real results, and who understands the value of multi-disciplinary care, I encourage you to reach out.
