About My Clients
I help high achieving women learn how to let go of pain of their pasts that keeps showing up in their present. I help you prevent burn out, remain successful, but also be less rigid and self-critical. I work with women who often silently struggle with anxiety, racing thoughts, dissociation, irritability, childhood stress/trauma, depression, PTSD, and believe that they are "supposed to have had this all figured out by now." You will have a soft place to land in our work together.
My Background and Approach
I have my Masters in Professional Mental Health Counseling and a background in the development and facilitation of programs for intimate partner violence for both victims and perpetrators. Before I was an EMDR therapist, I only helped people manage symptoms. Now I am able to help eliminate them. I often integrate music, art, movement, and humor into my work. I specialize in intensive EMDR because it is efficient, effective, and is much broader and more creative than typical talk therapy. I integrate CBT, Mindfulness, Ego-State, Solution Focused, IFS and Somatic informed therapies into my work. I am interested in what makes you come alive, your strengths, and the passions you are not yet pursuing because self-doubt or the trauma gets in the way. I am told that I am super down to earth, a realistic optimist, unshakeable, and nurturing. I am inspired by the resiliency and transformation that I get to experience alongside my clients. I love my work and wouldn't have it any other way.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that Black and Brown Lives Matter, that pronouns are important, that all foods fit, there is health at every size, and that individualism culture is toxic to trauma recovery and empowerment. I am a mother, a singer, and an endurance athlete who continues to do "the work" so I can show up for my clients (and myself) fully. I believe that boundaries are just as critical as food, water, and air and that you are capable of big change. I believe trauma recovery and empowerment work must involve community connections and challenging internalized patriarchy, capitalism, misogyny, and white supremacy. I believe that the the "hustle" mentality robs people of peace, play, and passion and that you can work hard but also have an awesome balance of joy and freedom. Also, life is too short to not eat cake, chocolate, or strong coffee.
