About My Clients
Do you feel triggered at times? Is it difficult to obtain relief from your emotions? Are you thoughts in the past and/or in the future and you're having difficulty staying in the present moment? I understand, it's not easy calming yourself during stressful situations. I offer Somatic Therapy which focuses on a mind/body connection and allows you to bring yourself back to the here and now. I welcome you to reach out and learn techniques to help calm your mind and bring you back to the present.
My Background and Approach
When working with me, you can expect to find a warm smile, a calm demeanor, and a little humor. I will explore and ask questions about your current lifestyle, circumstances, and goals for therapy. I specialize in working with anxiety, depression, trauma, work issues, life transitions, identity issues, new mothers, first-generation individuals, and spirituality, among other things. My approaches include solution focused, attachment focused, strength based, psychodynamic, as well as relational. I work (w)holistically in order to understand what outside factors may be contributing to current symptoms.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I grew up with many siblings and this helped me understand and connect with many different personalities. This also fostered my interest in psychology; I wanted to understand how, as individuals, we operate and how we can heal from past traumas. This interest led me to pursue a career in counseling psychology with a focus on somatic therapy. Somatic therapy’s focus is on the body and using different ways to help calm the mind. I've had a rich culture of work and life experiences, from working as a TSA agent to studying abroad in Europe. These experiences have helped shape the person I am today and how I show up in the world and in therapy. I believe strongly that culture in any form plays a major role in our lives and having a deeper understanding of it helps me offer my clients a non-biased experience.
