My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 20 years of experience in San Francisco. I work with teens, young adults, and families navigating trauma, anxiety, and life transitions I began my counseling career through volunteering at the GLBT National Help Center in 2006. Over the course of my career I provided psychotherapy and clinical case management to low-income youth and families in nine SFUSD public schools. I worked as a Case Manager to adults managing complex diagnoses in the Tenderloin District of San Francisco. I worked at an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) in San Francisco helping individuals and their families recover from co-occuring substance use/misuse and mental health disorders. I am currently the Clinical Supervisor for the Center on Juvenile and Criminal Justice (CJCJ) in San Francisco. I have experience and training to provide: EMDR, CBT, DBT, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. I am Trauma and IFS trained and informed.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe you are the expert of your own experience. I believe my job is to help you learn new skills, tools, habits and mindsets to improve your overall well being and quality of life. I believe you have the power to shift your emotions, feeling states, and reactions versus being controlled by these things. I believe the answer and truth is inside us all the the brain and body understand the path to healing. I believe healing can take time, dedication and patience and I've witnessed people recover over time with dedication and courage. If we are a good fit to work together, you can trust I will walk with you on this journey and will meet you where you are at through the ups and downs of the healing journey. I identify as an anti-racist white woman and I am dedicated to personal humility and true justice. I engage in constant self-reflection and examination of my power and privilege.
