About My Clients
Have you had to hide who you are with others? Have you been rejected because of your identity, attractions, or beliefs? As a member of the LGBTQ community myself, I've experienced the pain of disapproval and rejection from friends and family members. I know how difficult it is to share vulnerably with people who may or may not be kind. There is hope, though, and learning to speak honestly, boldly, and from a place of personal integrity is a huge undertaking when we have caring support.
My Background and Approach
My undergraduate studies were in Human Nutrition, Food, and Exercise which eventually lead me to become a personal trainer and Pilates instructor. With a Master's degree in Counseling (as well as an MBA), I approach counseling through a holistic mindset, factoring in the overall health of an individual as we work toward their goals. It's important to me to find creative, collaborative solutions that factor in self-care and personal growth. There's no need to stay stuck!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Ironically, even though I'm a counselor, I have struggled with vulnerability. It's not easy being real with people who judge or are cruel (even if they don't intend to be). So, I've been on a journey to become a more honest and loving friend, daughter, sister, wife (to my wife), neighbor, counselor, trainer, coach, etc. I'm from a Christian background (and am still, although I've been burnt by the church and have had to search hard to find safe and kind Christian community) and I love learning. People are very important to me and it's an honor to get to know each person's story. I have so many interests from fitness to nature to piano to art. I am a big nerd and love to learn. Bottom line, it's my goal as a counselor to provide as safe spot where we can be honest and real to be able to work toward lasting positive change. There is hope in each new day. I'm convinced of that.
