I have extensive training in trauma and I believe that while the term PTSD has become a pop culture term that is over used, our society is also lacking in understanding of how PTSD can arise from experiences of racial trauma, implied threat of death and harm through coercive control and the complexity of trauma that arises from long term abuse especially when beginning in childhood.

Spiritual abuse and religious trauma, while different experiences, are often compounded by each other. I have a deep understanding of spiritual abuse as a form of child abuse and coercive control. I also have experience and understanding of the long lasting impact of religious trauma and the struggle to separate from the destructive religious beliefs or groups that knowingly or unknowingly act to control not just the victim but everyone in their circle.

As therapists, sometimes we need to process the worldview bending experiences we also have during client sessions or toxic work environments. With over 10 years in trauma services from sexual assault, child sexual abuse, domestic violence, and crime victim services for homicide, assault, and suicide survivors as well as providing support for organizational trauma during that time, working with me will help fill your cup and get you back in condition to give your clients your full potential.

I have over a decade of working in trauma services as well as interacting with the overlapping service providers and systems that often come into play, including family and criminal court systems, and assisting client attaining reasonable accommodations or assistance at work, school, or other environments.

I have found nonviolent communication to be extremely helpful in clearer and more accurate expression. Additionally, the use of nonviolent communication bypasses many of the standard miscommunications and perceived offenses of standard conversation, facilitating information flow without argument. Interestingly, the use of nonviolent communication may also make the speaker appear more charismatic and persuasive.

Diversity is intersectional and culture is so much more than simply race or ethnicity. I take into account the whole person and their experiences, beliefs, and worldview and let them educate me in their culture without making assumptions based on how they present.

While PTSD has become an overused term in popular culture, I believe that society does not yet understand or embrace the true impact of racial trauma or long term trauma, especially beginning in childhood, and the debilitating life-long injury that can come from such traumatic experiences.
