About My Clients
How we connect is how we heal. My clients understand that a meaningful therapy experience is different than reading a manual or downloading an app. There are no short cuts, and my clients find transformation from an in-depth, reflective, and mindful process. I work especially well with young women, artists, and issues related to immigration, cultural assimilation, and generational conflict.
My Background and Approach
My approach is holistic and draws from psychoanalytic, relational, and humanistic philosophies. What this means is, while in session, we will explore both your personal experience and our on-going working relationship equally. We will remain mind-body aware, as recognition of somatic/physical experience opens up important pathways for self realization. I received a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology from Brooklyn College, and completed advanced clinical training in psychoanalytic therapy with the Stephen Mitchell Relational Study Center, where I continue to work with an advanced study group. My prior work experience includes community mental health and student counseling at a small college.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Yes, I believe therapy works! There are tons of reasons why, but the most reassuring one may be that I've been through it myself. My personal interests include writing, modern art, and swimming. I also volunteer with refugee relief organizations.
