About My Clients
Are you overwhelmed by everyday stressors, struggling to feel in control of life, struggling with parenting, managing perinatal mood disorders, recovering from previous traumatic events and stressors? I enjoy working with adults throughout their life span and through their life transitions in order to help people live meaningful lives focused on doing what drives you. Feeling anxious, overwhelmed, and like everyone else somehow got an instruction book that you missed?
My Background and Approach
I have been trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), interpersonal neurobiology (IPNB), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I have a certification in perinatal mental health from Postpartum Support International. I am continuing to learn about ADHD and ASD, especially as it relates to women and AFAB individuals diagnosed later in life. We will work together to develop goals and work to get the most out of our sessions. I am compassionate, empathetic and sarcastic. We can talk about whatever you need in order to feel better and gain insight. I want to know what works and what doesn't work. We will work together to build strategies that will help you engage in the activities you want to in order to feel like you are living your best life. I tend to blend ACT, EMDR and IPNB along with other modalities. Sometimes I have handouts, but not often. I do not consider myself a very structured therapist.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am part of the Legislative Advocacy Committee through Ohio's National Association of Social Workers. I am committed to making Ohio a safer place for the LGBTQIA+ community. I am involved with the PTA and support my kids' experiences with theater, soccer and scouts. I am committed to anti-oppressive therapy practices and am continuing to learn additional ways to make therapy accessible and welcome to all. I practice virtually throughout Ohio, but call central Ohio my home. I enjoy the many metro parks around Columbus and encourage others to get out and see our parks. I have 4 cats and a dog with previous experience volunteering at a cat shelter.
