About My Clients
Have you talked about your traumas but are still struggling? Maybe you've already been to therapy but the same things are still bothering you. Have you been doing all the 'right things' and they aren't working? Sometimes just talking about our hurts isn't enough. We may need to access deeper parts of ourselves to heal traumatic experiences and be free.
My Background and Approach
Typically, I work with clients who are struggling after experiencing trauma, abuse, and neglect. We work on creating a safe environment first, then move on to deeply feeling emotions in order to heal. I often use experiential therapies in my practice. These are therapies that focus on how it feels to imagine or experience our beliefs and emotions, instead of just thinking about them. This could mean using art, music, imagination, and feeling to heal our past selves. My practice is anchored in feminist, attachment, and polyvagal theories. You can always bring your whole self to therapy. There is no topic that we cannot process together. I am a licensed clinical social worker. I hold a BA in women’s studies and psychology and an MSW from the University of Michigan.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that processing how racism, sexism, classism and other oppressive systems influenced our trauma is essential to the healing process. Our experiences are always a product of our societal systems, culture, family, and circumstances combined. I am a queer woman and work with many queer women who have come out later in life. I believe our identities are always changing and shifting. I am sex positive, sex worker allied, vegan, fat positive, and racial justice aligned. I am also an artist, mother, avid reader, and lover of the beach. Joy is essential to healing.
