I enjoy working with children, teens, and families who are motivated to make changes to improve their lives. For parents, I pride myself on being able to empower them with the skills to parent children who present unique challenges. For children and teens, I provide a safe place where they can share their experiences and increase their skill sets. I specialize in working with individuals with autism, ADHD, ODD, and developmental disabilities.
My Background and Approach
I am a certified Parent Child Interaction Therapist (PCIT), which is an evidence-based treatment for young children with disruptive behaviors. PCIT empowers parents with tools to change their child's behavior so that they can better succeed in school, friendships, and at home. I also make use of the Social Thinking curriculum, CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and strategies rooted in behaviorism. I began my career as a Special Education Teacher, only to realize that I had more interest in the "why" of children who were struggling to learn, behave, make friends, and find joy in school, than in teaching them the academic content. I wanted to focus on how to build their success and resilience over time, and empower families to make intentional, evidence-based, and effective parenting decisions that would increase the love and joy in their households. I think that we are all doing the best that we can, and if taught better skills, we will use them to improve our lives.
