About My Clients
Are you seeking direction on how to manage your anxiety symptoms? Are you uncertain if you will ever get a handle on your mental health? Have you wondered if therapy will help you learn the skills you need to manage your mental health throughout life? I can help you with this. I work with my clients on identifying where the behaviors and triggers come from and how to change the behaviors by using prevention methods like cognitive behavior therapy, mindfulness, and skill building techniques.
My Background and Approach
I have 18 years of experience working in the world of mental health, disabilities, and behavioral interventions. I can help support and identify specific triggers and use interpersonal skills to prevent or reduce unwanted behaviors. I use a variety of therapeutic techniques including mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic, and client-centered counseling. Knowledgeable in working with individuals with diagnosis of autism, intellectual disabilities, personality disorders, ADHD/ADD, as well as depression and anxiety.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that therapy should be goal oriented, with the end result being the client can manage the skills on their own to have a more productive, happy, healthy life. I focus on understanding perspectives of not only the client but others around them to help move forward when they are feeling stuck. I began my career in the field of human services working as direct care with individuals with brain injuries and intellectual disabilities. From this steppingstone in my career, I began to learn about learned behaviors and how to prevent and break behaviors. I have worked in outpatient therapy along with crisis intervention for many years. I work very well with individuals with personality disorders, as well as family members trying to manage their loved one with BPD. I hope I can help you reach your goals.
