About My Clients
I am passionate about working with individuals who grew up in less than ideal situations (alcoholic/mentally ill parent(s), emotional/physical/sexual abuse, neglect, poverty, instability, etc.). It is my aim to work with these clients on how to identify the deep impact these things have on us, and to begin to create space for new ways of thinking/living. I also place an emphasis on depth therapy, working with clients on creating space for our bodies, minds and spirits to connect holistically.
My Background and Approach
As humans, our natural inclination is to move away from pain. But at a certain point, we may find that the strategies that once protected us are causing us even more pain. Together we can find ways to break old cycles that are keeping you stuck in order for you to move into the wholeness you desire. Many times when healing feels impossible, it is only an indication that what we have tried so far will not suffice. This is when it is necessary to mindfully keep one foot in the present and one foot in the past in order to safely reprocess certain memories and emotional responses. Most of my early clinical experience took place as the lead therapist in an intensive treatment program, with a focus on complex trauma and its co-occurring disorders. This gave me a deep understanding of the ways in which childhood wounds reemerge in adolescence and adulthood, enabling me to help clients safely examine their pasts without dwelling on them.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that there is healing in connection, whether it is through shared laughter or shared pain. I also believe that we live in a culture that does not place value on I value being authentic with my clients in order that they may feel the freedom to do the same with me. I am honest, compassionate, direct when necessary, and willing to go to whatever depths you may feel ready for.
