About My Clients
Over the years, I've developed a passion for working with young adults and supporting the unique challenges they face today. I've found that many young (and even not-so-young!) adults are dealing with major life transitions, and struggle to navigate those new changes at times. When working with me, you can expect to gain new coping skills, tools for challenging and disrupting negative thoughts, new insights, and increased awareness of strategies for self-care and self-love.
My Background and Approach
I graduated from the University of Arkansas with my MS in Counseling in 2016. During the time, I worked with adolescents with maladaptive sexual behaviors, and other co-occurring disorders. In 2017 I found my way to Illinois, where I worked at a residential/inpatient/outpatient substance abuse treatment center. I spent several years working on an all-women's unit, and uncovered my passion for working with women's issues and the unique challenges women face. Since then, I have spend several years in the private practice, individual therapy space. It's wonderful to be able to connect with clients on a personal level, and tailor their treatment to their specific needs. I view therapy as a collaborative and individualized experience. I am heavily influenced by both DBT, CBT, and motivational interviewing in my work.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in the power and importance of mental health treatment for everyone. I find that young adults are often eager to seek out support for mental health, while dealing with a wide variety of life transitions and challenges that are unique to them. Whether it be the challenges of a first job, moving out of a family home for the first time, graduating college, navigating romantic relationships, developing a budget, making friends as an adult, and exploring the ever-changing world of online/app-based dating... there's a lot to talk about! And oftentimes friends and family can only be so helpful before lines become blurred. This is where therapy can be a great additional support .
