My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Psychotherapist with a range of experiences working with children (4+), adolescents, parents and young adults. I believe that though we often enter therapy with a story of crisis, we stay to learn to tell a story that is not defined by pain but instead by what brings us strength. Therapy is a unique place to begin to explore a person’s life story and to understand oneself within the context of that personal history as it affects our present situation. The way we tell our stories defines who we are in the moment we tell them. In therapy we have the opportunity to understand that the story we narrate can be appreciated, comprehended and then changed. I emphasize the importance of a collaborative therapeutic relationship in helping clients in their effort to understand themselves and to begin to work towards who they might become.
