About My Clients
I work with individual adults and couples who are looking to slow down and understand more about what is going on inside of them and in their relationships. I work with clients who are looking to improve communication, process grief or childhood trauma, explore attachment issues, or feel more settled in the present. My ideal client is someone who is willing to listen to and re-discover parts of themselves in order to live a more connected and more intentional life.
My Background and Approach
I have been working with individuals, couples, and families since 2015 and truly love being a part of someone's journey to health and healing. I completed my B.S. in Psychology and Family Science as well as my M.S. in Couple and Family Therapy. My approach to therapy is to encourage a collaborative, curious, and respectful therapeutic relationship where you feel comfortable to explore the deepest parts of yourself. I use compassion and validation (and often humor) as a means of connecting with my clients. I work from family therapy models and theories, including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotion-Focused Therapy, and Attachment Theory. I am trauma informed and also apply my knowledge of IFS in my work with couples through the use of the “Intimacy from the Inside Out” (IFIO) approach. My goal is to help you to not feel alone in your feelings or with your problems. Together, we can work to make change and move towards growth and understanding.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe we all have a story to tell, and that story informs our present day experiences. My hope is that with the security and support of therapy, you will be able to understand your story with compassion for who you are and with the motivation to let go of what is no longer serving you. I am of the belief and practice that change needs to be wanted and through self-discovery, empathy, and hope, I will help you come to a place where you want to make change for your family and yourself. Above all, I aim to provide a sense of safety, security, and comfort. A wise mentor once told me that comfort resides in the ritual of care and where there is care, nurturance, attention, and responsiveness, there is comfort. I want to help you to discover, adapt, and thrive with your new rituals of care.
