About My Clients
Do you keep finding yourself in the same place over and over? It could be a type of relationship, a job, a conversation, a feeling, or a behavior. Many of us have unfinished business with our past. As a result, we sometimes get stuck in unconscious controlling patterns, and we miss opportunities for connection, freedom, and joy. Therapy can help you regain your authentic connection to yourself, others, and the world.
My Background and Approach
I work with individuals and couples, helping them break through stuck patterns by putting words to the things that they have not been able to say before. Instead of being lived by unconscious forces and automatic survival loops, I want to help people empower themselves to make conscious choices in their lives. I have a MA in Integral Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies and a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Oregon. Some themes throughout my studies have been boundaries, communication, and the unconscious. I am drawn to therapeutic approaches that prioritize listening for what is hidden and what is not said, and to creative, interpretive work like thinking together about your dreams, or other symbolic frameworks in your life. I have experience working in a number of therapeutic settings such as high schools, community clinics, domestic violence crisis hotlines, and private practice. I bring empathy, curiosity, and humor to our work.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am deeply passionate about the subject of boundaries and how they help us discover and define who we are in relation to others. I believe we can reclaim our power through our inner work and transform the outer world in the process. I also believe in learning to understand our own boundaries and limits we can see and love others more clearly, outside of our many projections and stories about them. Teaching and learning to respect and value others who are different from us is my personal mission in life.
