Hello! I'm a Seattle based Therapist with 10 years of experience working in childhood mental health and 2 years in perinatal mental health.

Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in Seattle, WA

About My Clients

My ideal clients are children, parents/caregivers, and perinatal individuals who are ready to be curious and learn about themselves and how their lived experiences impact their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and vice versa. My child clients are often those who exhibit emotional or behavioral issues that their caregivers may find challenging or puzzling. Adults I work with are often struggling with difficult emotions or thoughts brought about by their experience of pregnancy or parenting.

My Background and Approach

I have 10 years of experience in childhood mental health, having started my career in 2013 at a residential care facility for children who had severe mental health and behavioral issues. Having worked up the chain within that setting, the transition I made to child therapist in 2019 felt like a natural progression. I am familiar with all sorts of children's challenging behaviors and intimately know how exhausting and aggravating caregiving for children with behavioral issues can be. Having had behavioral issues myself at times as a child, I also remember how painful and difficult it was to feel that I couldn't stop myself. As a therapist working with parents and children, I recognize that behavior is a form of communication. I see my job as being a translator, to help parents and children better understand both themselves and each other. Helping families learn these skills earlier rather than later reduces familial stress and improves mental health outcomes for children and parents!

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that every human is capable of healing and growth when they are given the opportunity to be curious within a safe, sensitive, and supportive environment. I also believe that every human is deserving of this experience, especially those who are negatively impacted by the racial, sexual, and cultural inequities inherent in our society. For this reason, I split my time between private practice and community mental health serving low income individuals and families in King and Snohomish counties who are in need of mental health treatment. I previously spent 8 years working full time in community mental health and found that my commitment to working with underserved populations took too much of a toll on my mental and physical health to continue. Splitting my time between community mental health and private practice allows me to do what I love while taking care of myself so that I can be a better support to my clients.
