About My Clients
I love working with folks who are trying to find their footing after life transitions –breakups, adjusting to parenthood, big moves and even the loss of a loved one. I’m also passionate about working with individuals who are curious about their relationship with alcohol, cannabis, or other substances. In addition to treating symptoms, we'll work collaboratively to heal old wounds, identify self-defeating patterns, explore values, tap into underlying issues, and develop insight.
My Background and Approach
I earned a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, as well as a graduate certificate in Addictions Counseling. I'm a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist Associate. I'm proud to be one of few practitioners in the Wilmington NC area to offer walk-and-talk therapy (aka walking in nature during our therapy session). I help clients uncover their innate resiliencies and develop the skills needed to make meaningful, sustainable change in their lives. My therapeutic approach is integrative and tailored to each individual's unique needs. My counseling sessions are a place of unwavering non-judgement and enthusiastic curiosity. To walk alongside someone in their journey and to be trusted with their story is a privilege that I do not take lightly. Good therapy begins with a strong therapeutic relationship, and my clients can count on me to be genuine and compassionate.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe trauma is at the root of most maladaptive behaviors, and a strong therapeutic relationship offers the opportunity to create corrective experiences that can help facilitate healing. Although therapists are taught not to self-disclose personal beliefs, I believe silence has the power to perpetuate violence. It's for this reason that I stand by my decision to be vocal about my support for the LGBTQIA+ community and the Black Lives Matter movement.
