About My Clients
I am passionate about partnering with clients ages 19+ seeking support around navigating life transitions in adulthood and beyond. My ideal client is getting frustrated with trying to figure things out on their own and is starting to get curious about what it would look like to change. If you've been wracking your brain trying to sort it all out, let's see if we can figure it out together.
My Background and Approach
My ideal client wants someone who can both cheer them on and hold them accountable. I enjoy getting to know my clients deeply and helping them achieve their goals through reinforcement and redirection. It's important for me to know my clients on a deep level because change comes from the trust formed between us. I take my responsibility as a guide towards change very seriously, and you can expect us to be equal partners in reaching your goals. I am knowledgeable in a variety of therapeutic modalities, often integrating elements of CBT, solutions-focused therapy, emotions-focused therapy, strengths-based approaches, & motivational interviewing when working with clients. I incorporate a strengths-based approach that builds upon family systems ideas. In addition, I incorporate an ecological systems framework that considers the interplay between biological, psychological, social, & cultural factors that influence a person’s mental health and well-being.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I approach behavior through the lens of the Central Relational Paradox: Though we want nothing more than to be deeply known by others, the fear of becoming vulnerable enough to be known is such a daunting task that we may spend our lives avoiding it. To me, this means that all behavior comes from a deep desire to be known and loved. I'm interested in helping people find the strength within themselves to explore being known and knowing others without continuing habits of hiding. Though at times incredibly difficult, I believe every human holds the capacity to access the greatest joy of life: being known and knowing others. Nowhere are these beliefs more important than in families, relationships, and friendships. I believe that everyone has the right to construct their own family and define what means to them. I believe in exploring new types of relationships that increase support and understanding, like platonic life partners/co -parents and poly families.
