About My Clients

I primarily work with Asian American young professionals struggling with depression and anxiety, though I have years of experience with diverse populations. My populations include veterans struggling with PTSD, young adults struggling with school and relationship issues, working professionals having difficulty balancing work and life, older adults experiencing issues related to aging, grief and loss, as well as individuals struggling with addiction.

My Background and Approach

I completed my Bachelor's degree at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and my doctorate degree at University of La Verne. I have received specialized training in evidenced-based treatments, including mindfulness, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT; an effective treatment for interpersonal conflicts and maladaptive behavioral patterns), and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT; the gold standard treatment for depression and anxiety disorder). I can help you work through your challenges in life and troubleshoot barriers preventing you from having the kind of life you want. My approach is affirming, warn, and strength-based. I am fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese. I am not only trilingual, but bicultural as well and has had good success establishing rapport with diverse populations. My goal is to create a culturally sensitive, holistic therapeutic approach that is tailored to each of my client's needs.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My life experience as a minority and immigrant has taught me not to wait for fear to go away but to embrace it and take action. Whenever I have felt insecure in life, whether it be a lack of experience performing certain tasks, or managing difficult encounters, I have tried to immerse myself in learning more and then taking action. I have found meaning in my work as a clinician through helping my clients face the fear of venturing beyond the boundaries of where they feel comfortable and leading them towards making changes. My diverse clinical experience has provided me skills to help them discover their strength and seek meaning while learning to cope with crises.

I offer online counseling in the following states:
