About My Clients
I enjoy seeing clients from a variety of cultures and backgrounds. I have knowledge in issues such as depression, anxiety, spiritual abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, PTSD, C-PTSD, Alcohol Use Disorder, Substance Use Disorder, and Personality Disorders.
My Background and Approach
Prior to pursuing my degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, I worked in the medical field for over 10 years. I believe my medical background has given me additional knowledge and understanding of the body and brain connection. I believe mental health can present itself through medical illness and I try to incorporate a total wellness approach with my clients. One of my biggest passions is working with trauma, and I understand the toll that can take on the body. One of my goals is to become trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) to assist clients in processing painful experiences. Additionally, I hold current experience working in in-patient acute care for mental health and substance abuse rehabilitation.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe everyone has the right to have their basic needs met. I believe everyone should be treated with dignity and respect. I do not discriminate against race, sex, age, religion, disability, etc. I am an ally to those who identify in the LGBTQ+ community. I acknowledge the impact our individual cultures have on us and I celebrate the diversity these differences bring to my office and our community. I believe everyone has value and was put on this earth for a reason. In the past I have volunteered for suicide prevention events and advocated for those struggling with substance abuse. I have a passion for victims of emotional, psychological and spiritual abuse and am working on raising awareness of these needs in the area.
